The Eighth Annual C. Everett Koop, MD Tobacco Treatment Conference: Tobacco Treatment in the Era of Accountable Care – Pushing Koop’s Vision Forward

This conference asks what health systems can do to proactively motivate behavior change in tobacco users. In asking this question, we hope to envision how accountable care systems can proactively reach tobacco users to motivate and incentivize quitting or offer modified risk tobacco products. Presenters will describe programs that proactively contact smokers through telephone and mail and offer monetary incentives to quit. Other researchers will present novel programs examining e-cigarette substitution for smokers unable to quit, in the context of the new FDA regulations for these devices.
