The 46th Meeting of the NH/VT Ethics Committees:
Tough Calls at the Bedside
Challenges and Opportunities in Health Care Decision Making

Please join us for the 46th meeting of the NH/VT Ethics Committee where we will address “tough calls at the bedside.” Health care decision making can be a complex process. It is important to not only understand what patients need and want but to have enhanced awareness of those areas of concern that are frequently neglected. At Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the goal is to support patients in making their health care decisions by helping them to consider their choices in light of their personal goals, values, and what is most important to them. Issues of legality frequently arise and must be addressed. A model that encourages an active partnership between patients and clinicians that includes open and honest dialogue will be discussed as we approach the many challenges and opportunities we are faced with throughout this process.
