Second Annual Nursing Research Symposium

Please join us for our Second Annual Nursing Research Symposium. This year, we will feature Dr. Rick Zoucha, Professor and Chair of Advanced Role and PhD Programs at Duquesne University School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Zoucha has a special interest in Transcultural and Global Nursing as well as Psychosocial Nursing. He has taught Transcultural Nursing in the BSN, Post-Master's, DNP and PhD programs for the last 20 years. Dr. Zoucha teaches qualitative research methods in nursing in the PhD program. In addition, he is certified as an Advanced Practice Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist (Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist -Board Certified) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In addition, he is a Certified Transcultural Nurse-Advanced. Dr. Zoucha is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). He is an internationally recognized speaker on issues related to cultural care. Dr.Zoucha will be discussing cultural competence and translational research at this year’s conference. His research interests include understanding various phenomena related to health and well-being in the Nicaraguan, Mexican American, African American and African refugee and immigrant communities. Dr. Zoucha is a qualitative and mixed method researcher experienced in ethnography, ethno-nursing, phenomenology and participatory action research methods. He has served as PhD dissertation chair for studies seeking to understand cultural care phenomena.

Registration is online and by credit card only. 

The registration fees are as follows:

  • Dartmouth-Hitchcock Employees and Affiliates, and Nursing Students: No Charge (advance registration required for planning purposes)
  • NEAH Hospital Employees: $35
  • Others: $75

Preregistration and payment required. The registration deadline is 10 days prior to the activity date. There will be no refunds after that date. A $10 administrative fee for a registration fee of under $50, and a $25 administrative fee for a registration of $50 and over, will be retained on all refunds requested before the registration deadline. Learning Outcome(s)

At the conclusion of the learning activity, the participants will be able to discuss at least three research studies that are featured at the research symposium including one that focuses on cultural care.

Accreditation

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This educational activity carries 5.5 contact hours.

Receiving Contact Hours

The follow steps must be completed in order to receive contact hours for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A contact hours tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

  • Log onto https://ce.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/login.aspx
  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Contact hours will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
