Stroke Nursing Certification Review

The Stroke Nurse Certification review is a one-day course that will provide a comprehensive update for those nurses preparing for the American Board of Neuroscience Nurses (ABNN) stroke nurse certification exam. The program is also for those nurses interested in updating, enhancing, and increasing their knowledge base in the stroke patient care settings. This increase in overall awareness of stroke care supports the hospital and the stroke program’s mission of proving excellence in healthcare.

Registration for this event has closed. There is still space available. If you would like to attend, you may register as a walk-in the day of the conference. For walk-in registration questions, please e-mail Amanda.E.Sanchez@hitchcock.org.

Registration is online and by credit card only.

The registration fees are as follows:

Preregistration and payment required. The registration deadline is 10 days prior to the activity date. There will be no refunds after that date. A $10 administrative fee for a registration fee of under $50, and a $25 administrative fee for a registration of $50 and over, will be retained on all refunds requested before the registration deadline. Speaker:

Cynthia Bautista, PhD, RN, CNRN, SCRN, CCNS, ACNS-BC, FNCS is the owner of Nursing Brains, LLC, a company that provides continuing education in neuroscience nursing, offering lectures and seminars on various neuroscience topics.

Cynthia is a graduate of Salem State College, Louisiana State University Medical Center and the University of Rhode Island School of Nursing. She has over 35 years of practice in neuroscience and surgical critical care. She is a member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Neurocritical Care Society. Her current position is Associate Professor at the Egan School of Nursing Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. In an effort to keep her programs clinically relevant, Cindy continues to practice as a Neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT.

Learning Outcome(s)

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will utilize increased knowledge in the care of the stroke patient in order to prepare to take the ABNN Stroke Certification RN exam.

Accreditation

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This educational activity carries 6.75 contact hours.

Receiving Contact Hours

The follow steps must be completed in order to receive contact hours for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A contact hours tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

    Accessing the Online Evaluation (The evaluation is available the day after the event)

  • Log onto https://ce.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/login.aspx
  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Contact hours will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
