Special Nursing Grand Rounds - Eye on the Prize: Developing the D-H Nursing Competency Assessment Program Using Best Practice

This presentation will review the process used by the D-H Nursing Education team to develop the FY2020 Nursing Competency Assessment Program. The Nursing Education Center used the D-H Nursing policies and procedures for competency assessment to provide the starting point in October 2018. Donna Wright’s Competency Assessment Model and Week’s & Pontin’s Integrated Model of Nursing Competence form the framework for the program. Data from a needs assessment, focus groups, and Patient Safety & Quality informed program development. Verification methods were created to align with specialty areas and this works continues for the D-H nursing workforce.
