Serious Illness Conversations, Part 2: Advanced Skills Building

Join us for an interactive, skills-based training in VitalTalk’s foundational REMAP course.

By the end of this activity, learners will build off of a foundational communication framework and apply this to high stakes goals of care conversations with a focus on sharing a clear prognosis, responding to emotions, efficiently eliciting values, and making goal-aligned recommendations in patients with serious illness.

We welcome participants of any discipline: nurses, social workers, physicians, associate providers, and others. We encourage clinical teams to train together.

This conference will be offered virtually using the Zoom platform.

TO TAKE PART IN THE LEARNING, PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE:
- A microphone and a camera
- Zoom downloaded onto a desktop or laptop (not handheld devices)
- High speed internet (>10 MPS)
- A place relatively free from interruptions and loud noise

This event is open to Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Member Organizations Only.

We strongly suggest clinicians complete our 3 hour Serious Illness Conversations, Part 1: Framework and Communication Practice(sessions can be found here) prior to taking this course. This assures that the clinician has essential foundational skills in order to get the most out of this full day, interactive training.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock designates this live activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Receiving Credit

The follow steps must be completed in order to receive credit for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A credit tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

    Accessing the Online Evaluation (The evaluation is available the day after the event)

  • Log onto https://ce.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/login.aspx
  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Credits will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
