Virtual Yellowbelt Training

Value Institute Learning Center Yellowbelt training provides students with a broad introduction to the tools used in process improvement work. Individuals with Yellowbelt training will have the tools they need to be active participants in department-level process improvement work and to lead their own small scale improvement projects.

Yellowbelt students learn the history of process improvement work, project participation and project management, and the five DMAIC steps of process improvement: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control.

This class requires use of a computer or laptop with high speed internet.

This course has no prerequisites.

Requirements for Successful Completion

To be considered a Trained Yellowbelt, you must:

  • attend and participate in each day of training
  • take the post-class exam and score 80% or higher; and, submit a class evaluation. An email with this information and links are provided at the end of class.

To earn Yellowbelt Certification you must complete an improvement project that utilizes the tools and methodologies taught in class. This may be done either independently on a work related project, or as a member of a Greenbelt team that has completed a project.

Learning Outcome(s)

At the conclusion of this learning activity, the participant will be able to apply robust process improvement methodology and disciplined project execution in order to support the development of a High Reliability Organization focused on a Culture of Safety and Patient Centered Care.

  • Lead a small-scale improvement.
  • Participate as an active member of a DMAIC improvement project team.
  • Utilize primary quality improvement tools in daily problem solving activity.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock designates this live activity for a maximum of 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
