Stroke Nursing Certification Review Course

The Stroke Nurse Certification review is a one-day course that will provide a comprehensive update for those nurses preparing for the American Board of Neuroscience Nurse (ABNN) stroke nurse certification exam. The program is also for those nurses interested in updating, enhancing, and increasing their knowledge base in the stroke patient care settings. The increase in overall awareness of stroke care supports the hospital and the stroke program’s mission of providing excellence in healthcare.

Preregistration and payment required. The registration deadline is 10 days prior to the activity date. There will be no refunds after the registration deadline has been reached. A $10 administrative fee for a registration fee of under $50, and a $25 administrative fee for a registration of $50 and over, will be retained on all refunds requested before the registration deadline. Objective: Review the anatomy, physiology, and etiology related to stroke syndromes.

Objective: Identify the interventions available during the hyper-acute phase of caring for a stroke patient.

Objective: Discuss the acute care needs of the stroke patient.

Learning Outcome(s)

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will utilize increased knowledge in the care of the stroke patient in order to successfully pass the ABNN Stroke Certification RN exam.


Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This educational activity carries 7 contact hours.

Receiving Contact Hours

The follow steps must be completed in order to receive contact hours for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A contact hours tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

  • Log onto https://ce.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/login.aspx
  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Contact hours will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
