Essential Concepts for the Perianesthesia Nurse

This day-long course will prepare the perianesthesia RN to successfully master the essential concepts for perianesthesia nursing. The program offers up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge that will support perianesthesia nurses in providing safe quality care. Linda Wilson, PhD, RN, CPAN, CAPA, NPD-BC, CNE, CNEcl, CHSE-A, FASPAN, ANEF, FAAN, who will be teaching the program, holds multiple nursing certifications including both CPAN and CAPA. She is an Assistant Dean for Continuing Education and Simulation and a Clinical Professor in the Division of Nursing at Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions. She served as President of the American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) from 2002 - 2003 and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

This educational offering is initially open to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Lebanon, Concord, Manchester, Nashua, and Bedford employees and employees of member organizations. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If space is available after October 1, 2021, registration will open to everyone.

The registration fees are as follows:

  • Dartmouth-Hitchcock Lebanon, Concord, Manchester, Nashua, and Bedford employees: $20.
  • Member Organizations: $40
  • NEAH members (after October 1, 2021): $40
  • Others: $60 (after October 1, 2021)

Preregistration and payment required. The registration deadline is 10 days prior to the activity date. There will be no refunds after the registration deadline has been reached. A $10 administrative fee for a registration fee of under $50, and a $25 administrative fee for a registration of $50 and over, will be retained on all refunds requested before the registration deadline. Please note that we provide a simple light breakfast and/or lunch depending on conference times: options are limited. If you have specific dietary needs, please plan to bring your food with you to the conference. For conferences that are held on-site at DHMC, there are several options available for food purchases including our two hospital cafeterias.

Learning Outcome(s)

At the conclusion of this learning activity, (at least 75% of) participants will identify a change in their practice based on the concepts covered in this course.


Dartmouth-Hitchcock Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Receiving Contact Hours

The follow steps must be completed in order to receive contact hours for this event:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend the event or session(s). A contact hours tracking sheet will be provided.
  • Complete the online evaluation - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity

  • Click on the My Activities link in the left side menu. Then click on the name of the activity you attended.
  • Click on the Resume button.
  • Click the Continue button until the Evaluation tab is active, and then click the Launch button.
  • Fill out the evaluation and then click submit. Contact hours will then be applied to your transcript. You can view your updated transcript by clicking on the "View Transcript" button.
